WASPA Partners with MCP Insight to Strengthen Compliance Monitoring in South Africa

London, 3rd November 2025 – MCP Insight is proud to announce a strategic partnership with the Wireless Application Service Providers’ Association (WASPA), supporting the roll-out of MCP NET as a proactive compliance and monitoring platform for South Africa’s mobile content industry.

The partnership marks a significant evolution in how mobile services are monitored and escalated: shifting the focus from reactive complaint handling to real-time oversight and early intervention. The initiative builds on WASPA’s 21-year track record of self-regulation and is already driving measurable impact across the market.

James McNab, Chairperson of WASPA, said:

“The decision to appoint MCP signals WASPA’s intent to shape a future built on consumer trust, transparency, and collaboration in mobile services. This is about raising standards across the board. By adopting a more proactive and automated approach to monitoring, we’re protecting consumers, improving accountability, and strengthening confidence in mobile content services. MCP NET combines human insight with automation to make compliance faster, smarter, and more consistent; and we’ve already seen the benefits. Now we’re encouraging all our members to get involved.”

The announcement follows a successful Proof of Concept (PoC) trial, delivered by MCP Insight, which demonstrated the effectiveness of structured, technology-enabled compliance workflows. The three-month trial involved a control group of WASPA members and saw significant reductions in the volume, severity, and repetition of compliance issues.

Results included:

  • 208 issues referred within 36 hours of discovery
  • Over 113,000 consumer journeys tested for compliance – without drawing on internal WASPA resources
  • 95% reduction in Red (high-severity) issues
  • 64% reduction in Yellow (medium-severity) issues
  • 91% drop in repeat issues among trial participants
  • 4.5% increase in overall compliance; compared to just 0.03% in the broader market

WASPA has now adopted MCP NET as a long-term monitoring solution, with a growing number of its members already onboard and actively using the platform. Both parties are also working closely with major mobile network operators to support broader adoption across the value chain and help ensure clean, compliant consumer experiences.

Nduna Mpofu, Operations Manager at WASPA, added:

“The platform gives us a clear, auditable process to identify and resolve issues before they escalate. It’s already reduced the burden on our internal team and created space for us to focus on enforcement and governance. MCP NET helps us work smarter; and that’s something we want all members to benefit from.”

Both MCP Insight and WASPA will be at the MEF Leadership Forum Africa in Cape Town, 12th November, where the two organisations will take part in a panel discussion reflecting on WASPA’s 21 years of self-regulation and how transparency is creating new opportunities for trusted players. The event offers a valuable opportunity for industry stakeholders to connect and find out more about the partnership.
