World Telemedia Dubai 2025: Insights, Connections, and De-Risking Growth

The inaugural World Telemedia Dubai was a standout event in every sense – a fantastic few days of insight, connection and conversation. Huge thanks to the organisers, particularly Jarvis Todd, Paul Skeldon, Annika Micheli and Geraldine O’Sullivan, for curating such a high-quality experience and bringing the industry together in the MENA region for the first time.

For us at MCP Insight, it was a pleasure to reconnect with long-standing clients and industry partners, and just as rewarding to make new connections with companies from across the mobile payments ecosystem. From tech platforms to content providers, aggregators to MNOs – the diversity of attendees really underlined the value of collaboration in building sustainable digital services.

Spotlight sessions that sparked discussion

Among the many thought-provoking sessions, we were proud to contribute to two in particular:

  • Understanding the South African mVAS Landscape, hosted by Anzelle Robertson of MEF, where our Director Kev Dawson joined the panel to share insights from our work in that market
  • De-Risking Growth: Protecting Mobile Payments Revenue in MENA, which we hosted with an exceptional panel featuring Pascal Dufour (Digital Virgo), Mark Robinson (Infomedia), Anzelle Robertson (MEF), and our CTO Faisal Ameer

The conversation ranged from fraud detection and regulatory risk, to complaint management and sustainable market entry. The session was well attended and, we’re pleased to say, well received – with attendees welcoming its openness, clarity, and practical value.

Thanks again to everyone we met in Dubai – here’s to continued collaboration and growth, built on insight and trust.

From Chargebacks to TikTok: What the Latest Payment and Discovery Trends Mean for mVAS

As digital payment journeys grow more complex, the real battleground is clarity, not conversion. From rising card chargebacks to the growing influence of TikTok on user acquisition, the mobile payments ecosystem is evolving fast. For MNOs, aggregators, and merchants, that means one thing: deliver transparency and trust at every step, or risk losing out to more agile, user-focused competitors.

Complaints Are a Symptom – Not the Root Cause

Consumer complaints are vital - but they’re often the last sign of a problem, not the first. By the time complaints peak, consumer harm has already occurred and regulators may have no choice but to act broadly. This article explores why earlier visibility matters and how targeted action can protect both consumers and the market.
