With the Appointment of Industry Veteran Kev Dawson

London – 13th May 2024 – MCP Insight, a leading provider of market intelligence, compliance and anti-fraud tools for the mobile payments space, today announced the appointment of Kev Dawson as Director. In this newly created role, Dawson will play a pivotal role in driving the company’s strategic growth and spearheading commercial efforts, collaborating closely with co-founders Declan Pettit and Toby Padgham.

“We’re delighted to welcome Kev Dawson to our team,” said Declan Pettit, Commercial Director at MCP Insight. “Kev’s extensive experience and deep industry connections make him a strategic addition, helping to propel the company’s growth initiatives and drive further success in our ongoing projects.”

Dawson brings a wealth of experience to MCP Insight, having established himself as a prominent figure in the mobile industry. Prior to joining MCP Insight, he served as Group CEO at PM Connect. He also boasts a highly successful tenure as CEO at Dynamic Mobile Billing, where he led the company for 11 years.

Dawson further reinforces his credentials with over five years of management experience within the mobile carrier space, having held positions at both Orange (EE) and Vodafone. He also served on the board of AIMM alongside Toby Padgham for over six years (from 2016 to 2022).

“I’m thrilled to join MCP Insight,” said Dawson. “We have a long history together, and after years working at various other points in the value chain, it feels like the perfect time to join a company dedicated to helping the industry combat fraud and build sustainable revenue growth through premium services and direct carrier billing.”

Dawson joins MCP Insight at a pivotal juncture. The company is experiencing significant growth, expanding into new geographical markets and enhancing its service offerings. Notably, the highly anticipated updated version of MCP’s market-leading mVAS ad monitoring platform, MCP SCANNER. V4.0 boasts a more intuitive user interface, advanced features and even more insightful market intelligence and compliance oversight.

Speaking about MCP Insight’s value proposition, Dawson said, “MCP is committed to protecting the mobile payments industry from fraudulent activities, providing trusted and enabling technology solutions that positively impact the sector’s ability to grow. The focus is of course on protecting businesses and consumers, but also enhancing efficiency and profitability of the mobile payments industry overall.

“While compliance and anti-fraud providers are sometimes perceived to be a barrier to growth, the innovative technology portfolio and capability of MCP Insight bucks this trend by partnering with parties across the entire value chain, to provide innovative solutions and bespoke insights.”

Why Pakistan’s Consent Directive Signals a New Era of Verifiable Mobile Services

PTA’s recent clarification on explicit prior consent for Value-Added Services marks an important step in the continued evolution of Pakistan’s mobile ecosystem. Consumer protection and sustainable operator revenue are not opposing objectives. They depend on each other. The practical question now facing the industry is not whether consent should be obtained, but how it can be clearly evidenced when disputes arise. As markets mature, the shift moves from policy to proof. Verifiable, structured consent recording is increasingly becoming part of the governance infrastructure that supports long-term stability across the value chain.
