Market Focus: Pakistan

Take a closer look at Pakistan’s digital services market

Pakistan has a large and active mobile market, with digital services spanning sports, entertainment, information, lifestyle and other content categories.
But market opportunity is not simply a question of audience size or identifying which services are already present. Payment methods and customer journeys can differ between services and operators – and they can change. In this Market Focus, we combine current market context with MCP Scanner data from June to August 2026 to examine the services, providers, payment journeys and compliance patterns visible in Pakistan.

The market at a glance

Pakistan’s mobile market includes Jazz, Zong, Ufone and Telenor Pakistan, with the sector regulated by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority.

The market is undergoing structural change following the conditional approval of PTCL’s acquisition of Telenor Pakistan. At the same time, the digital services environment continues to evolve across operators, providers and payment methods.

For CSPs and aggregators, current intelligence matters. A service proposition or payment journey that works in one part of the market may not operate in exactly the same way elsewhere.

About the data: MCP Scanner data reflects advertising and service activity observed across the monitored mobile networks and traffic sources during the stated period. It provides an evidence-based view of observable market activity but should not be interpreted as a complete record of every service or campaign operating in Pakistan.

What MCP is seeing

MCP Scanner monitored digital service advertising and customer journeys in Pakistan between 1 June and 31 August 2026.

The activity observed included:

  • services across sports, information, video, lifestyle, gaming and other categories
  • a mix of established and newly observed services
  • different daily, weekly and monthly price points
  • DCB, mobile wallet and combined payment journeys
  • differences in billing flows between operators
  • varying compliance issues across the reporting period

Recent MCP intelligence also shows several services moving from DCB to mobile wallets.

Some services now use mobile wallets across all monitored operators. In other cases, the payment method varies by operator, with the same service supporting mobile wallets on some networks and both DCB and mobile wallets on another.

This makes the customer journey an important part of assessing the market. Knowing that a service is present is useful; knowing how consumers can access and pay for it provides a much clearer commercial picture.

Why payment journeys matters

Payment methods influence how consumers encounter, authenticate and pay for a digital service.

A change from DCB to a mobile wallet may affect:

  • the steps required to subscribe
  • the partners needed to reach the market
  • conversion and abandonment points
  • customer communications
  • compliance requirements
  • the experience delivered across different operators

The presence of several payment models also means that providers should be cautious about treating Pakistan as a single, uniform route to market.

For a CSP considering Pakistan, market potential needs to be assessed alongside the practical customer journey.

Useful questions include:

  • Which service categories are already active?
  • Which providers and services are visible?
  • How are comparable services promoted?
  • Which payment methods are being used?
  • Do journeys differ between operators?
  • Which price points are common?
  • What compliance issues are being identified?

Current market evidence can help you make better-informed decisions about positioning, partnerships and market entry.

Aggregators need visibility across services, operators and payment methods.

As journeys change, independent market intelligence can help identify:

  • where payment models differ
  • which services have adopted mobile wallets
  • how operator-specific journeys compare
  • where new provider opportunities may exist
  • which compliance issues require closer attention

This supports more informed conversations with operators, CSPs and prospective partners.
